Hawaiian Antique Bottles
.

This website is dedicated to Antique Hawaiian bottles that are dug and found in Hawaii. This website will deal mainly with Hawaiian bottles for example any antique bottles with Hawaiian words on them, like a Hawaiian soda bottle that says, Honokaa soda works. "Honokaa" being the Hawaiian word or a gin that says Honolulu on it, but this site will also cover other bottles that are commonly dug in Hawaii like the good old bottle you find everywhere. The famous and rare (Ha Ha) "Clorox" and even other bottles like oriental medicine and black glass bottles. This site will also provide information on these historical bottles that are becoming harder to find. Hawaii is an island so that limits the amount of bottles here and once they are all dug up or paved over or what ever it may be, then it will be even harder to find Hawaiian bottles, they are truly becoming part of Hawaii's history. Please come back often because I try to add new pictures frequently, I have so many bottles and information but so little time to do it all since this is my hobby.. So please enjoy the Hawaiian History in the form of glass bottles. Antique Hawaiian Bottles is a glimpse into Hawaii's past. It was in 1851 when a German man imported the first known embossed Hawaiian soda bottle, his name was Ulrich Alting. After that the abbreviations S.I. were used to indicate the Sandwich Islands and H.I. would indicate the Hawaiian Islands. In 1900 when Hawaii became a U.S. Territory then they started to use H.T. for Hawaiian Territory and T.H. for the Territory of Hawaii. Hawaii had 38 different soda companies that made around 270 varieties of bimal (blown in mold applied lip) soda bottles. That is because of the fact that the Hawaiian island are in the middle of the Pacific ocean and transportation from island to island and even to the mainland is difficult and costly so there were plenty of local establishments that had there own soda bottle companies. Please note that none of the bottles were made in Hawaii, the bottles were imported empty and then filled here in the Islands. Hawaii most certainly has some very rare and collectable bottles. I have seen 1 Hawaii Soda bottle sell in the year 2007 for $3000, just for 1 bottle. I would say that is a rare collectable. Of course not all Hawaiian bottles are so costly, there are common ones that still sell for $25 or so and then the machine made bottles can be even less but some machine made Hawaiian soda bottles I have seen sell for $400. So it really depends on the bottles itself and if it is in real good condition for example a Hawi Ice soda bottle can sell for over $200 and a Kona bottling works can sell for $30.
